Rex M. Lee Appointed To Clean Data Alliance Board

New York, New York - January 12, 2026 - The Clean Data Alliance (CDA) announces veteran tech executive, cybersecurity advisor, and investigative journalist Rex M. Lee has joined its Board of Directors.

Lee brings 35+ years of experience in telecom, enterprise tech, cybersecurity, AI, and digital‑rights advocacy. He founded the Electronic Bill of Rights (EBOR) initiative and the cybersecurity firm My Smart Privacy, and is known for exposing surveillance‑capitalism practices and AI‑driven data risks.

He has advised DHS Science & Technology, the NSA, NIST, and U.S. lawmakers, co‑founded Houdinisoft -- the former “world’s largest legal hacking firm” -- and contributed to policy milestones such as the DMCA exemption for smartphone jailbreaking and device unlocking.

Lee also authored a congressional policy proposal for Senator Ted Cruz’s office and supplied briefing questions to Senators Cruz and Richard Blumenthal ahead of the Facebook–Cambridge Analytica hearing.

As an investigative journalist, Lee’s reporting and analysis have appeared in The Epoch Times, NTD News (China in Focus & Business Matters), Mission Critical Communications Magazine, TechTalk Summits, and other outlets with global reach. His work focuses on the intersection of technology, privacy, security, AI governance, and human rights.

Lee is also the author of the Electronic Bill of Rights (EBOR) framework, a nonpartisan policy initiative calling for enforceable digital rights, informed consent, and consumer protection in an era of AI-infused platforms and pervasive data collection.

“Clean, ethical data practices are no longer optional. they are foundational to trust, democracy, and national security,” said Lee. “I’m honored to join the Clean Data Alliance board and support its mission to promote responsible data practices that respect human agency, privacy, and transparency.”

The Clean Data Alliance works to advance responsible, transparent, and human-centric data practices, advocating for data practices that balance innovation with civil liberties, security, and accountability.

“Rex has a rare combination of deep technical expertise, policy experience, and investigative insight perfectly aligned with the Clean Data Alliance mission,” said CDA Founder, Michael Munson. “His perspective, credibility, and passion will be invaluable as CDA continues to shape the future of ethical, and ultimately more profitable data practices all over the world.”

In his role on the CDA Board, Lee will contribute to strategic direction, policy development, education initiatives focused on clean data, AI governance, digital rights, and systemic risk reduction across public and private sectors.
